Ocoee and Friends

"As you walk through life, you will come to a chasm. Jump; it's not as far as you think." I had a great time this weekend with Memphis Whitewater and the Virginia Boyz. We started the trip with a run down the Nanty. The group consisted of 15 boaters: Paul, Justin (twinkle toes), Nealc, Dalton (neal's son), Lauren, Mhoward, Rob, David, Sharon, River Rat Ron, Ruthie (phillip's daughter), Phillip50, Kevins, FatDoug, and me. Everyone had a great day and while there were a few swims, we all got dow… Continue

Past and Future

The good news...I nailed my off side roll last night. The bad news...I freaked on the Nanty last weekend. The good news...I have met a guy who is boyfriendable. The bad news...he lives more than 16 hours away. That pretty much sums up the last three weeks. I have been working my tush off at school getting ready for the close-out. I have graduation tonight and memorial day weekend starting tomorrow (with the meeting of my friend and the running of the Ocoee and fireman and twinkle toes's first t… Continue

The Mississippi Kayak and Canoe Race

Exactly how long can I wear my medal without being considered "tacky"? The Mississippi Kayak and Canoe Race was yesterday here in Memphis, TN. This was my first "big" race and I was lucky enough to place third of seven in my class. I was extremely dissappointed in my paddling, but when I comparied to everyone elses times, it looks like I wasn't the only one having issues. The wind was whipping from the west and it had the most amazing effect of making my boat want to "spin" in the river. Every… Continue

Racing and Pneumonia

Saturday was the Maria Montessori Regatta in the Wolf River Harbor. I entered the race on the urging of my budies in MW. I mean, they were going to do it and thought I should join them. The longest boat I have is an old school playboat (fusion) at about 10 feet. I was the only whitewater boat on the water; everybody else was in glass or composite whatever they make touring boats out of these days (Illya broke out the Thudnerbolt (21feet long 17inches wide) and easily won the men's). My Dad and… Continue

Whoooo-hooooo, TCAP time...

That means, boys and girls, that there are 37 days remaining until I move from Memphis to North Carolina for the summer. I actually despise the testing, but it is a good sign that things are coming to their eventual end. The stress is taking its toll (I'm breaking out like one of my 13 year olds...goes great with my grey streak!!!), but other than that, life is pretty good. My daughter continues to recover from pneumonia (her recovery has kept me out of my boat for a week...which is no big deal… Continue

oh hell yeah i'm going to be there. i am just getting into whitewater, so it is going to be a major learning experience, but i am so psyched to be around other "boater chicks"!!! it's cool that you'll have the little ones along. they need those kinds of experiences. we will have to hook up down there. i am going to try the nanty on saturday, but sunday i'll just be hangin out because we have to jet by noon bc of long drive...

feel free to talk school "shop" anytime, it's nice to have someone who understands, and would rather be on the water... later chica!

Hey girl! Hope things are going well with those 8th graders. Mine are lazy slobs, which makes me only want to get out more... Lucky you that you can have the countdown... Our admin says no counting down because the kids will think we want to be rid of them. Umm, duh!

Hey Girl! Just thought I'd see how things are going in TN. I'm taking my board exam tomorrow! I hope I pass! ;) So, on to the juicy stuff. I've been in AK for 2 1/2 months and I've already had a boyfriend and already have lost him! Ha! Such is life. We are still friends. He is a great guy but he has significant personal issues right now. Maybe it'll work out in the future. I'm just going to keep my options open and enjoy every minute I have in AK. I signed with the school district another year. We'll see where I head after next year. I can't wait for the summer! Miss you all. Tell everyone hi for me!

I simply unlocked the door. It was you that flung the door open, ran inside, took off all your clothes and screamed "HERE I AM"!!!! :-)
