The Paddle Trip Planner
The KayakMind planner for day trips: your real speeds, a turnaround time with daylight to spare, water and load checked together, and a float plan someone ashore can act on
The Paddling Time Calculator on this site divides a distance by a speed. A real day on the water has a harder direction and an easier one, breaks, and one deadline that matters: being off the water with daylight to spare. The Paddle Trip Planner works backward from that deadline. Part 1 uses your own logged speeds in each direction, puts the harder leg first, sets a turnaround time and point, and counts water as load: a litre weighs about 2.2 lb, and in the worked day it is what takes a boat to within 1.6 lb of its usable capacity. Part 2 is on the water: a float plan with a call-for-help time, a go/no-go check at the launch (forecast, water temperature, life jackets worn), and a trip log that replaces guesses with measured speeds. Planning arithmetic, not training or a guarantee. Includes a trip plan sheet, float plan, go/no-go card, trip log and a turnaround table. With your purchase comes a personalised sheet worked on your own trip.

The planner complements the free Paddling Time Calculator. It divides a distance by a speed; the planner works back from daylight to a turnaround time, counts water as load, and ends with a float plan.
